Why can adding a gas separator to the enterprise tank completely eliminate the odor?

In decoration, installing U-shaped air barriers (also known as floor drain anti-odor elbow pipes) can effectively eliminate the cause of odors, which is related to its design structure and function.

1. The structure and function of U-shaped vapor barriers

The U-shaped riser is a U-shaped section of the water pipe, usually located below the drain channel. A certain water layer (referred to as a “water seal”) is retained inside the U-shaped pipe. The function of this layer of water is to prevent the air inside the drainage pipe from directly connecting with the ambient air.

2. The principle of odor prevention

Most household drainage pipes are eventually connected to public sewers, which usually contain a large amount of gas and unpleasant odors. Without U-shaped air barriers, these odors can easily escape directly through the pipes and enter the room, causing unpleasant smells. After installing the U-shaped vapor barrier, the water seal layer acts as a natural barrier, preventing the following problems from occurring:

• Odor backflow: The odor in the sewer cannot pass through the water layer and enter the room.
• Bacterial and pest invasion: The water layer can also prevent some bacteria and small insects (such as cockroaches) that enter with unpleasant odors.

3. The Importance of maintaining water seals

Although U-shaped vapor barriers can effectively prevent odors, the following points should be noted to ensure their normal odor prevention function:

• Regular water replenishment: If the water seal is not used for a long time, the water inside will evaporate and lose its deodorizing effect. Therefore, it is necessary to regularly refill the water seal with water.
• Avoid negative pressure damage to the water seal: If the drainage system is poorly designed, for instance, generating a strong air negative pressure during drainage, it may cause the water in the U-shaped pipe to be sucked away (i.e., “water seal damage”), and at this point, unpleasant odors may seep out.
• Clear blockages: U-shaped pipes are prone to accumulate dirt, so they need to be inspected and unblocked regularly to ensure smooth drainage.
