The standard height of the platform is 400 mm (16 inches). If you want to go up and down more easily, you can add a 200 mm (8 inches) high step. Of course, we can also customize the height and box to the needs of the customer. For example, if there are very large things to store like suitcases, the height can be increased to 500-600 mm.
Yes it can.
The solid core plywood used in Holetto’s platform bed is treated with a special coating. This makes the boards waterproof and scratch-resistant, so directly using a mop to clean is no problem.
1. Very large storage space
Having a very big storage area underneath the platform is the biggest advantage. Since the inside is hollow, you can place bigger items and things not used on a daily basis.
2. Multifunctional space
In addition to having a platform bed in the bedroom, a platform could also be placed in the living room. This may not include a bed, but you could put a table, Japanese tatami mats, or make it into a play area for children.
3. Gorgeous look
The look of the platform bed is similar to a normal bed and can be directly integrated into the interior design. Having a platform with space underneath keeps things neat and clean. Some owners may choose to add light strips around the edges to provide warm, ambient lighting. A Japanese-style room is highly sought after and is a look that will last a lifetime.
4. Works well with windowsills
A lot of new buildings today have windows with large window sills. It is really a waste of space if they are not utilized properly. When the height of the floor is on par with the windowsill, it can be integrated into the space. This increases the usable space and converts a space that may not have previously been used.
There is a substantial height difference between the floor and the surface of the platform. For this reason, it is not suitable for the elderly, as it may cause slips, falls, or joint pain. You will also have to bend over frequently to use the features of the platform, which could strain your back, knees, or other joints.
It can work just fine. For 8 ft high ceilings, choose a platform of 400 mm (16 inches). After installation, there will still be about 2 meters of clearance, which is plenty. The height of the platform can be customized based on the individual needs of the customer. For more details, please contact our designers.
1. Flush rotating handle (tatami)
This type of handle is the most common type and is most commonly used with tatami. Each box has its own handle, and it rotates out when you want access. It can be spun up by pushing on either of the two sides. This type of handles provides easy access and won’t interfere with objects on top. However, if you are a bit of a perfectionist, these probably aren’t the most suitable.
2. Beveled-edge pull
Another way to open and close the boxes of the platform is to make one edge of the panel beveled or angled.
3. Cutout handle
For this handle, an indentation or cutout is made on the edge of the panel. There is no visible handle and the gap between panels is much thinner. Unfortunately, these gaps are easy to accumulate dust and get a bit dirty.
4. Suction cup pull
If you are really opposed to having a handle on the floor, or you don’t want any visible gaps, then you can choose the suction cup option. You just have to attach the cup every time you want to access the inside.
5. Convex edges
For this method, one of the edges of the panel slightly protrudes about 2 cm. This creates a natural handle to grab. The cracks are very thin, so it keeps everything much cleaner, too. It may, however, disturb items on top, or you may accidentally kick the handle with your feet.
The platform bed is especially fitting for Japanese-style homes. It pairs well with tatami and is very practical and beautiful for this type of space.
